PURPOSE: To prevent the temperature rise of the pressure roller and to stably reduce curling of recording material without deterioration of fixing ability by providing a cooling means in the vicinity of a pressure roller installed in pressurized contact with a fixing roller.

CONSTITUTION: A halogen heater 13 is provided inside a fixing roller 11, and the pressure roller 12 is brought into a pressure contact with the fixing roller 11 at a specified pressure by a spring. An electric power source 31 is provided beneath this pressure roller 12, and a cooling fan 30 is provided as the cooling means in the vicinity of the pressure roller 12. When the printing action is started, temperature is risen on a surface of the fixing roller 11, and the surface temperature is raised to the specified fixing temperature until the recording material is guided to the fixing roller 11. Then, the cooling fan 30 is driven from the point when the recording material is fed from a paper feeding part to a photosensitive drum 1. As a result, the heat received from the fixing roller 11 and the heat from the electric power source part 31 are exhausted outside, and the surface temperature of the pressure roller 12 is controlled.
