PURPOSE: To make volume production of light connectors of good accuracy easy by providing a pair of plugs formed with grooves by thick film patterns and guides for positioning these two on the front and side faces on a flat plate of smooth surfaces.

CONSTITUTION: Grooves 4 are formed by thick film patterns 3 on the flat palte 2 of a plug 1 of ceramics or glass and optical fibers 5 are buried in said grooves 4. The leading ends 6 thereof are aligned to the end face 7 of the flat plate 2 and are fixed. The thick film patterns 3 are formed at errors of ≤5μm with the side face 8 of the flat plate 2 as a reference. A method of forming these by printing thick film paste, or photoetching or vapor deposition of resins, vapor deposition of metal films or other methods may be used for the method of forming said patterns. A coating 11 is applied on the optical fibers 5 of this plug 1 to fix the fibers and closely contact the side face 10 of the flat plate and the side face 8 of the guide 9. Two pieces of the similar plugs 1 are then opposed to each other and the end faces 7 are adhered. This connector is good in accuracy and permits easy volume production.
