PURPOSE: To make connection of optical fibers to other optical elements easy by forming the fibers into the construction in which at least one end of the optical fibers arrayed in and at predetermined positions and intervals is closely adhered and fixed to a thin film.
CONSTITUTION: V grooves 2 and recesses 3 are beforehand formed in and at predetermined positions and intervals in a substrate 1. First, a film 4 is closely adhered to the substrate 1, then optical fibers 5 are buried in the grooves 2 and recesses 3, after which the entire part is covered with another film 6 to be joined to the film 4. In another example, paste 8 is printed in predetermined patterns on a film 7 and the portions not deposited with the paste are formed into grooves 9 and into which optical fibers 10 are buried and are fixed by means of an adhesive agent 11. This makes handling of a multiplicity of optical fibers convenient and since the connection with other optical elements is completed at one time, the work is easy.
