PURPOSE: To provide the flow rate controller of a liquid metal of a non-driving system which can control the flow rate of molten steel flowing down in an immersion nozzle with high accuracy.
CONSTITUTION: This flow rate controller is constituted of a cylindrical water cooled conductor 3 which is disposed around the immersion nozzle 1 and has plural pieces of insulating slits provided along the downstream direction of the molten steel 2 and energizing coils 5 which are wound in multiple layers on the outer periphery of the water cooled conductor 3. High-frequency current is passed to the energizing coils 5, by which the flow of the molten steel in the immersion nozzle 1 is deformed to a constructed shape, by which the flow rate is controlled.
