Title:
FLOW RATE CONTROLLER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS63231603
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To considerably shorten the settling time of a device by using the Coriolis force acting upon the curved part of a sensor tube to directly measure the mass flow rate of a fluid passing in the sensor tube. CONSTITUTION:Since the amplitude is increased according as going toward the front end of a sensor tube 9 from the base end side, the velocity in the oscillation direction of the fluid flowing in the sensor tube 9 is higher in the front end side. Consequently, an acceleration (a) is applied to the fluid according as going toward the front end of the sensor tube 9, and the negative acceleration (a) is applied to the fluid in a straight part 9e on the outflow side, which the fluid passes after passing a curved part 9c, because the velocity in the vertical direction is gradually reduced there. A Coriolis force F(=ma) acts upon the acceleration (a) in the direction opposite to that of the acceleration. Thus, the sensor tube 9 is twisted because the same force F acts upon the inflow side and the outflow side of the sensor tube 9 in opposite directions. Pickups 14 and 15 detect an angle theta of twist of the sensor tube 9 as a signal of time difference.
