Abstract:

PURPOSE: To eliminate unevenness of the characteristics from cold cathode to cathode and make the light emission brightness uniform by arranging the cold cathodes with an arrangement density a specified times as large as the arrangement density of island-shaped fluorescent substance films.

CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent display device comprises a group of cold cathodes 14, island-shaped fluorescent substance films 13, a transparent electroconductive film 12, and a multi-crystal Si film transistor circuit 15 consisting of a gate electrode 9, metal film 18, insulation films 10, 11, gate oxide film 8, multi-crystal Si layers 7a-7c installed on a glass plate 3, and in this device the cold cathodes are formed uniformly so that their arrangement density is at least four times as large as the arrangement density of the island-shaped fluorescent substance films 13. Thereby unevenness likely in the characteristics from cold cathode to cathode is eliminated, and the density of emitted electrons incident to each island-shaped fluorescent substance film 13 is averaged to accomplish uniform brightness in light emission.
