Abstract:

To provide a foamable polystyrene-based resin particle that utilizes a recycled material when producing the foamable polystyrene-based resin particle by a melt extrusion method, has excellent foamability and a short molding cycle, and produces a balanced foam molded product having good appearance and sufficient mechanical strength.

The foamable polystyrene-based resin particle is obtained by achieving a particle state of a polystyrene-based resin containing a foaming agent, wherein the weight average molecular weight Mw of the polystyrene-based resin is in the range of 120,000-320,000, the foaming agent contains butane as an essential component at a rate of 2-8 pts.mass relative to 100 pts.mass of the polystyrene-based resin, and composition of the butane is with a mass ratio range of iso-butane:normal butane=10:90 to 80:20.
