Abstract:

To freely superimpose various fonts on an image while suppressing font data quantity.

In a digital camera 10 for encoding and decoding image data, the image data is DCT-converted, and the encoding data is generated based on a DCT coefficient. On the other hand , font data stored in a ROM 39 is converted into the DCT coefficient in a DCT conversion part 35. And a plurality of font DCT coefficients are added to generate synthesized font DCT coefficients, and it is replaced by a part block of the DCT coefficient of the image data.
