In this forming machine 10, motive power of a linear motor 50 is amplified by a toggle mechanism 52 and is transferred to a forming tool 38 so that the smaller output motor than conventional motors can be used to reduce cost. Further, each linear motor 50 is provided in the backside of a substrate 14 so as to eliminate influences to the motor by dust generated in the processing position P1. Each linear motor 50 is extended over to the direction which crosses the sliding direction of each holder 37 and is parallel to each other in the backside of the substrate 14 so that the whole forming machine 10 can be compactly composed.
