To provide a friction stir welding method to be excellent in the appearance of a joined region and to provide products produced by the method.
The friction stir welding method includes: a step where a joining tool having a frictional surface is provided; a step where a first component having a first surface layer is provided; a step where a second component having a second surface layer is provided; a step where a welding member the melting point of which is lower than the melting points of the first component and the second component is provided; a step where the welding member is installed on the joining part of the first component and the second component and the first component and the second component are brought into contact and a step where, by moving the joining tool while rotating it after press-contacting the frictional surface of the joining tool with at least one side of the first surface layer of the first component and the second surface layer of the second component, by the frictional surface of the joining tool, the quantity of heat is generated by stirring frictionally on at least one side of the first surface layer of the first component and the second surface layer of the second component, the quantity of heat is transmitted the insides of the first component and the second component, they are made into a plastic state and the first component and the second component are joined.
