Abstract:
PURPOSE:To eliminate a gap between an electrode and a matrix and prevent the matrix from deforming or cracking by arranging recessed and raised portions of an electrode support plate back and forth and right and left by turns and making the recessed portion open with respect to the electrode surface and making the raised portion open with respect to a separator surface. CONSTITUTION:Recessed portions 4a and raised portions 4b of an electrode support plate 4 are arranged back and forth and right and left by turns with the recessed portions 4a being made open to an electrode surface to supply fuel or oxidation agent gas to electrodes 1, 2, and the raised portion 4b supports the electrodes 1, 2. If the area per one recessed portion 4a is too great, the electrodes 1, 2 float in the recess 4a and deform, a gap is produced between the electrode and a matrix to reduce contact resistance. If the area is too small, the support plate 4 becomes difficult to be formed. Arranging the recesses and raised portions of the support plate back and forth and right and left by turns in this way, the gap between the electrode and the matrix is prevented from being produced and the matrix is prevented from deforming or cracking.
