PURPOSE: To maintain the same warming-up-start conditions of an internal combustion engine with the use of a top-feed valve as that a side-feed valve produces and thus reduce the manufacturing cost of a fuel injection system, by connecting a jacket up to a fuel supply line via one inflow opening and one outflow opening that both communicate with an annular chamber so that fuel passes through the annular chamber.
CONSTITUTION: Between a jacket 25 and a valve body 23 for a fuel injection valve 14, an annular chamber 31 is defined to extend over a substantial portion of the axial length of the valve body 23 from a mouthpiece part 24 thereof. The jacket 25 is connected up to a fuel supply line 13 via one inflow opening 32 and one outflow opening 33 both communicating with the annular chamber 31, such that the fuel flowing in the fuel supply line 13 passes through the annular chamber 31. Even prior to an internal-combustion-engine stop, the annular chamber 31 situated between the jacket 25 and the valve body 23 continuously cools down the valve body 23 with fuel, which leads to a low temperature level at the fuel injection valve 14. By this arrangement, the maximum reachable temperature of the engine is held low during an engine stop, so that the overall surface of the valve body 23 of the fuel injection valve 14 is immediately cooled down on a warm-up engine start.
