PURPOSE: To prevent water hammering in a fuel oil feed pipe and flashing of water in a fuel return pipe, by constructing a fuel oil supply system for a Diesel engine in an enclosed pressure type.
CONSTITUTION: Through provision of an enclosed buffer tank 6 having a layer 11 of fuel oil supplied from a fuel oil service tank 1 and a layer 13 of pressurized air supplied from an air feed line 12, a fuel oil circulating passage 29 is constituted of a fuel oil supply passage 23 extended from the buffer tank 6 and a fuel oil return passage 28 extended to the buffer tank 6. Fuel oil is circulated by arranging a fuel oil injection passage 32 having fuel injection valves 31 and a fuel injection pump 30 in parallel with the fuel oil circulating passage 29 and providing a fuel oil circulating pump 33 in this passage 32. By employing such an arrangement, it is enabled to omit a valve for regulating the fuel oil feed pressure and to prevent occurrence of water hammering action. Further, through provision of a buffer tank, flashing of water and volatile substances can be prevented.
