Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula (R1 is H or acetyl; R2 is lower alkyl).

EXAMPLE: 2,3-Dihydro-2,9-dimethoxy-3-hydroxy-7-oxo-7H-furo[3,2-g][1]-benzopyran.

USE: A substance for inhibiting the leukocyte migration activity of anaphylatoxin C5a.

PREPARATION: The compound of formula I wherein R1 is H can be produced by oxidizing methoxsalen with an oxidizing agent such as hypochlorous acid or hydrogen peroxide in a lower alcohol solvent of formula R2OH (e.g. methanol).
