NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are H or 1-4C alkyl).

USE: The compound has cell-activation action and differentiation-inducing action.

PREPARATION: The objective compound is produced by (1) using a compound of formula II (X is halogen, etc.) and a nitroacetic acid ester of formula O2N- CH2-CO2R3 as starting substances and successively reacting the substances to obtain an intermediate of formula III, (2) reducing the intermediate with sodium borohydride in an organic solvent such as ether, (3) reacting with an acid halide (e.g. thionyl chloride) in an organic solvent in the presence of a base and finally (4) cyclizing the product in an organic solvent in the presence of a base (e.g. diazabicycloundecane).
