To provide a gear shifting device for optimally holding the rotating force of a shift drum with each shift stage positioned while producing a sense of click during the input of shifting operation to allow the sensing of whether a gear is shifted or not.
The gear shifting device is provided for shifting the gear while transmitting the turn of a shift spindle 31 via a lost motion mechanism 50 to the shift drum 21. It includes an upstream side latch mechanism 70 for an upstream side turning member 51 and a downstream side latch mechanism 80 for a downstream side turning member 61. The latching operation of the downstream side latch mechanism 80 is canceled in linkage with the latching an holding operation of the upstream side latch mechanism 70, and then an upstream side detent mechanism 56 positions the upstream side turning member 51.
