PURPOSE: To manufacture a tile having a curly grain pattern on its entire surface at a low cost by spirally mixing raw material for base material made of pottery stone, clay, etc. and proper amount of PVA and pigment and extruding from a baffle and mouthpiece, whose diameter is extremely narrowed, to the outlet side.
CONSTITUTION: Raw material A for base material made of pottery stone, clay, etc. which is adjusted to water content of 20 to 24% is put in an extruder through the input port thereof. In addition, additive ornament material B made of same raw material as raw material A, to which PVA of 0.5 to 3% and red iron oxide as pigment of 10 to 20% are added, of 10 to 50% to the material A is properly put in the extruder 1, extruded to the outlet side by an auger screw 2, and spirally mixed. When the material passes a baffle 4, to the center section of which a weight portion 4a whose cross section is a triangle is formed, the material is divided into two sections, and the extrusion speed of the material at the center section is made to increase by a mouthpiece, whose diameter is extremely narrowed, and the additive ornament material B at the center section is extruded forming continuous spiral-like pattern. Thus, a tiles having a curly grain pattern excellent in decorativity on its entire surface can be manufactured at a low cost.
