On the base saucer 20 of this grinding tool, an abrasive grain layer 21 whose volume abrasion grain content is less than about 5% (preferably about 1% or more and less than 5%) is formed. The abrasive grain layer 21 is a layer comprising hard ceramics abrasive grains and super abrasive grains bound by a plated phase comprising alloy including Ni and Co or at least one of them. On the surface of this abrasion grain layer 21, a plurality of grooves 21b to be grinding liquid supply passages and discharge passages are formed in a checker-pattern. However, the width and number of the grooves 21b must be determined in such a way that the total area of divided areas 21a becomes about 5% or more and 7% or less of the total area of the divided areas 21a and groove areas 21b.
