PURPOSE: To provide the subject cosmetic stock with such a hair finish as to be slight in oily feeling, excellent in smoothness and softness, light in an airy manner and innocent of oil for both wet and dry hair, containing a branched quanternary ammonium salt and a modified silicone polymer.
CONSTITUTION: The objective cosmetic stock containing (A) a compound of formula I, II or III [R1 is mixture of formula IV (R7 is CH3 or C2H5; (p) is such number tht the total number of carbon atoms in the group are between 8 and 16) and formula V ((q) is 7 to 15), its branch rate being 10 to 100%; R2 and R3 are each benzyl or 1 to 3C (hydroxy)alkyl; R4 and R5 are each 2 to 12C alkyl; R6 is of formula IV or 1 to 3C alkyl; X- is halogen ion or organic anion; R8 is of formula VII ((x) is 2 to 14; (y) is 3 to 11; (x)+(y)=9 to 21) or 1 to 3C alkyl] and (B) a modified silicone polymer having at least one aminoalkyl group in one molecule and at least ne hydroxyl, hydroxyalkyl, oxyalkylene or polyoxyalkylene group (e.g. a polymer 3000 to 100000 in average molecular weight of formula VIII).
