PURPOSE: To produce the title molding improved in a softening temperature and flame retardance, by bulk-polymerizing a specific halogenated alicyclic polycyclic compound and a non-halogenated metathesis-polymerizable cyclic compound in the presence of a metathesis polymerization catalyst system.
CONSTITUTION: A solution (A) containing 60W1mol% halogenated alicyclic polycyclic compound having at least one metathesis-polymerizable cycloalkene structure and one halogen substituent [e.g., 5,6-bis(chloromethyl)norbornene] and a metathesis-polymerization catalyst-based catalyst component (e.g., tungsten hexachloride), and a solution (B) containing 40W99mol% nonhalogenated metathesis-polymerizable cyclic compound (e.g., dihydrodicyclopentadiene) containing 30mol% or more dicyclopentadiene and an activator component (e.g., diethyl aluminum chloride) for the metathesis-polymerization catalyst are mixed and cast into a mold to effect bulk polymerization.
