To provide a means for managing a set of annotations associated explicitly by a user and for calculating text similarity for a search query in a notation search as well as importance of an annotation based on the correlation between the annotations.
A handwritten annotation information management apparatus includes: a document information management means for managing document information and annotation information written in a document; a comparative annotation acquisition means for extracting a set of annotations representing a relationship between documents by analyzing the contents of the annotation information; an annotation importance calculation means for calculating the importance of an annotation using comparative annotation information for a search query composed of a word string; and an annotation search result output means for outputting annotation information matching the search query.
