To provide a handwritten character recognition system for designing a business form without restriction by specification of character recognition software by using an electronic pen and a special business form.
In this handwritten character recognition system, a user writes required matters in a character input area on the special business form with the electronic pen. The electronic pen generates entry data such as stroke data corresponding to the entered matters and supplies the same to a character recognizing device. In the character recognizing device, first the entered data is subjected to variable magnification processing, thereby adjusting the size of the entered data, and the adjusted entered data are supplied to a character recognition means. Thus, by the variable magnification processing, the size of the entered data is changed into the size to be accurately recognized by the character recognizing means, the character can be accurately recognized by the character recognizing means. Concurrently the size of the character input area provided on the business form should not be the size required by the character recognizing means, whereby the degree of freedom in designing the character input area on the business form can be heightened.
