Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester with a specified intrinsic viscosity and a stable low-permittivity by copolymerizing terephthalic acid or its deriv. with a diol component contg. a 2,2-dialkyl-1,3-propanediol.
CONSTITUTION: A low-permittivity polyester with an intrinsic viscosity of 0.3-1.2dl/g is obtd. by copolymerizing an acid component contg. terephthalic acid and/or its deriv. with a diol component contg. a 2,2-dialkyl-1,3-propanediol (e.g. 2,2-diethyl-1,3-propanediol) pref. in an amt. of 3-50mol% of the diol component. Thus obtd. polyester has a stable low-relative permittivity, 3.1-2.4, in the frequncy range of 100-1GHz and exhibits changes in relative permittivity by moistening or water immersion for 1 week or longer and for less than 1 week of 0.2 or lower and 0.15 or lower, respectively.
