PURPOSE: To obtain a heat insulating container, which displays excellent heat insulating performance without enlargement of the entire configuration and without increase in weight, by providing multilayered insulating materials only between the inner container and a heat radiation shield.
CONSTITUTION: A heat radiation shield plate 6a, which is cooled with liquid nitrogen, and two heat radiation shield plates 6b, which are cooled with evaporated helium gas, are arranged between the outer wall of an inner container 5 and the outer wall of a vacuum container 2 and between the axial direction wall of the inner container 5 and the axial direction wall of the vacuum container, so that these sections are partitioned in the direction of the radius and the axial direction. Multilayered insulating materials 7a are provided only between the inner container 5 and the heat insulating shield plate 6b, which is located at the closest position to the inner container 5. When simulation is conducted in this constitution, the quantity of heat, which intrudes into the inner container 5 from a normal temperature part, is about 0.1W, which is 1/2 the conventional quantity.
