To obtain a heat-sensitive transfer recording material having a layer containing a specific pigment, giving recording images excellent in image storability such as fixity and light stability, improved in color tone and moisture durability and useful for thermal printers, etc.
This heat-sensitive transfer recording material has a layer containing one or more kinds of pigments of formulas I-IV {R1, R3 are each H, an alkyl, an aryl, a heterocyclic group; R2 is H, cyano, carbamoyl, an alkoxycarbonyl, an aryloxycarbonyl, carboxyl; X is O, CR4(R5) (R4, R5 are each an electron-attracting group); Y is N, L1-(L2=L3)m [L1-L3 are each methine; (m) is 0-2]; Z is an azo group; G1 is a heterocyclic group; Q is a non-metallic atom group required for forming a pigment having absorption wavelengths in visible and infrared regions} on a support. An image-receiving material is preferably superposed on a pigment-donating material having the pigment- donating layer containing one or more kinds of the pigments of formulas I-IV on the support and, if necessary, subsequently heating the pigment-donating material in response to image information to form the image.
