Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect a host computer system to a large-scaled multi-media distribution network having scalability for a wide range which is not limited by the restriction of band with in a host system for a multi-media controller for controlling the on demand system display of a movie in multiple set to boxes(STB) provided with TV receivers.
SOLUTION: Network distribution constitution composed of plural multi- media(MM) adapters is connected to the host system. The MM adapters include plural controllers and the MM controllers are connected to plural MM couples. The MM couples are connected to the network and the direct distribution of the movie to multiple STB is controlled. The MM couples include disk adapters for controlling/receiving data from a disk device for transmitting a disk data block to STB and a network adapter for transmitting disk data to the network.
