Title:
HIGH DAMPING ALLOY WITH HIGH STRENGTH AND HIGH TOUGHNESS AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3492026
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a high damping alloy for structural material, excellent in strength, toughness, and damping characteristic.
CONSTITUTION: A steel, which has a composition consisting of, by weight, ≤0.02% C, 0.5-3% Si, 0.2-2.5% Mn, ≤0.010% P, ≤0.005% S, 1-5% Cr, 0.005-5% Al, ≤0.006% N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and properly containing, if necessary, Cu, Ni, Mo, Nb, V, Ti, B, Ca, and REM, is used. This steel is hot rolled under the conditions of 950-1100°C heating temp., 30-70% draft at ≤950°C, and a rolling finishing temp. of 700-850°C, preferably between (Ar1+50) and (Ar1-20)°C for the improvement of damping characteristic and then subjected to tempering at 650-950°C or annealing heat treatment. By this method, the high damping alloy with high strength and high toughness, in which (200) diffraction intensity ratio, loss factor, Charpy absorbed energy at 0°C, and tensile strength are regulated to 2.0-15.0, ≥0.03, ≥50J, and ≥400MPa, respectively, can be obtained.
