Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biodegradable high molecular weight aliphatic polyester copolymer having physical properties for practical use, while capable of being molded into a film, and its production method enabling it to supply industrially.
SOLUTION: The high molecular weight aliphatic polyester copolymer having a weight average molecular weight of above 40,000, is obtained by bonding a low molecular weight aliphatic polyester copolymer (D) having a weight average molecular weight of above 5,000 and having a molecular structure of being composed of a repeat unit (P) represented by the formula (1): -(-CO-R1- COO-R2-O-)- (wherein R1 is a 1-12C divalent aliphatic group; R2 is a 2-12C divalent aliphatic group) and a repeat unit (Q) represented by formula (2): -(-CO-R3-O-)- (wherein R3 is a 1-10C divalent aliphatic group), through a bifunctional bonding agent (E) represented by formula (7): X1-R7-X2 (wherein X1 and X2 are each reactive group capable of forming a covalent bond by interacting with a hydroxyl or carboxy group; R7 is a single bond or a 1-20C aliphatic or aromatic group; and chemical structures of X1 and X2 are each the same or different), by the amount of 0.1-5 pts.wt. based on the 100 pts.wt. of the copolymer (D).
