Abstract:
PURPOSE: To miniaturize an equipment such as a copier, to which a hinge device is mounted and which uses the hinge device, by generating proper frictional braking force in reponse to the angle of opening of an opening-closing cover body and compacting the whole while displaying a positive free-stop function regardless of the size of the angle of opening.
CONSTITUTION: The mounting member 2 of an opening-closing cover body and a mounting member 1 to a fixed body are connected in a relatively rockable manner through a support shaft 3 inserted into a pivotally support sections 1b, 2b continuously connected at a right angle to the mounting sections 2a, 1a of both mounting members 2, 1. A female screw section 4 is formed to the internal circumferential wall section of a bottomed hole 2c in the periphery of the support shaft 3 shaped on the cover-body mounting member 2 side. A nut-shaped member 6 screwed to the female screw section 4 and fitted to the support shaft 3 integrally rotatably and a coil spring 8 working so as to increase frictional braking force generated between both mounting members 2, 1 by the axial movement of the cover-body mounting member with the reduction of the angle of opening of the opening-closing cover body are incorporated into the bottomed hole 2c.
