Abstract:
To provide a holding furnace having a function of temporarily storing a molten metal made to flow out from a melting furnace and capable of feeding the molten metal having reduced impurities.SOLUTION: A holding furnace 41 has a U-shaped cross-section obtained by connecting confronted side walls 52, 53 and a bottom board 51, in which a front diaphragm 11, a rear diaphragm 31 and a middle diaphragm 21 are arranged at a boundary between a treatment chamber 45 on the upstream side and a pumping-out chamber 46 on the downstream side. The front diaphragm 11 and the rear diaphragm 31 are lined up in parallel so as to connect a space between the confronted side walls 52, 53, and further, the middle diaphragm 21 is inserted between the front diaphragm 11 and the rear diaphragm 31. Then, the flow passage of a molten metal is secured at the bottom face of the rear diaphragm 31, further, the front diaphragm 11 is provided with an inflow port 13 and a reflux port 14 with the middle diaphragm 21 held, and a gas bubbling apparatus 61 is arranged in the vicinity of the inflow port 13. As a result, only a stirred molten metal reaches the pumping-out chamber 46, further, the molten metal in the pumping-out chamber 46 can be again introduced into the gas bubbling apparatus 61, and the molten metal having reduced impurities can be fed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
