To provide an optical fiber ribbon product which is easily manufactured, allows easy identification of individual sub-units on site and allows easy and prompt arrival at individual optical fibers.
The respective sub-units are arranged adjacently to each other and respectively include identification stripes extending in a longitudinal direction on the outer side of a matrix material. The stripes of the first sub-unit have visual appearance different from the appearance of the second sub-unit and therefore the discrimination of the sub-units from each other is possible. A bonding material substantially envelops the first and second sub-units. In one embodiment, the bonding material is transparent and completely envelops the stripes. In another embodiment, the stripes consist of films and are not enveloped in the bonding material and therefore the arrival at the optical fibers and/or sub-unit ribbons is made possible by stripping the stripes.
