The image forming apparatus 100 includes: an image carrier which is rotatively supported by a rotation shaft fixed to a housing; an electrostatic latent image formation unit which forms an electrostatic latent image on the image carrier; a developing unit which has a developer carrier for conveying developer, while holding the developer on its periphery, and forms a toner image by developing an electrostatic latent image on the image carrier; a transfer unit that transfers a toner image on the image carrier to a transfer body; and a cleaning unit having a cleaning member for removing the toner remaining on the image carrier. The developing unit and cleaning unit are disposed substantially opposite to the image carrier. The developer carrier and cleaning member are connected by a connection member so as to substantially uniformly press the image carrier.
