To provide a developing device, which improves the efficiency of development for an electrostatic latent image on an image carrier formed of toner while being little affected by atmospheric pressure change and preventing contamination of a peripheral area due to toner scattering, for forming a uniform and high quality toner image on the image carrier over the long time period.
In the developing device 5, toner is conveyed on a belt member 16 by a traveling wave electric field formed in a toner conveying member 15, and in a development region Y on the surface of the belt member 16, the toner is supplied to an electrostatic latent image on a photoreceptor drum 2 to develop the image. When, in this process, a voltage is applied to an electrode member 100 from a vibrating power supply 102, a vibration electric field is formed in a gap G between an electrode member 100 and a vibration roller 101, the vibration roller 101 is vibrated by the vibration electric field, and the belt member 16 formed in contact with the vibration roller 101 is vibrated.
