Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that accurately determines the state of a process cartridge to prevent malfunction.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a separation member 710 that enables contact/separation of an electrification roller 700 with/from a photoconductor drum 100, a feedback current detection circuit 2 that detects the state of contact/separation of the electrification roller 700 with/from the photoconductor drum 100 by the separation member 710, and a controller 600 that determines the state of attachment of a process cartridge 200 and whether the process cartridge 200 is new or used on the basis of a result of the detection by the feedback current detection circuit 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
