Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color copying machine which wraps an intermediate transfer belt and a secondary transfer belt around a common roller, thereby making the area of contact for the generation of a transfer electric field, and can, therefore, prevent image defect such as transfer dust due to pretransfer and retransfer which occurs upstream and downstream from the area of the contact in the direction where the belt moves. SOLUTION: This image forming device allows the contact of the intermediate transfer belt 501, so driven as to move in one direction, and the secondary transfer belt 601 and generates a transfer electric field in the area of the contact, thereby transferring superimposed toner-images held on the intermediate transfer belt 501 to transfer paper carried by the secondary transfer belt. In the image forming device, the area of the contact is made by wrapping the intermediate transfer belt 501 and secondary transfer belt 601 around the secondary-transfer opposite roller 501 which is common to both the belts.
