Title:
IMAGE HEATING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3542445
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a satisfactory fixed image free form fixing tailing by setting the heating area of a fixing film out of a fixing nip.
SOLUTION: The alternating magnetic flux C guided by magnetic cores 17a-17c is collectively distributed between the magnetic cores 17a and 17b and between 17a and 17c, or in the front and rear of a fixing nip part N to generate an eddy current mainly in the electromagnetic inductive heating layer 1 of a fixing film 10 in the front and rear of the fixing nip part N. This eddy current generates a Joule heat (over current loss) in the heating layer 1 by the natural resistance of the heating layer 1. The calorific value Q herein is determined by the density of the magnetic flux passing the heating layer 1. The heating area H is set out of the fixing nip in this way, whereby a recording material is heated by the radiation heat of the heating area H to some degree, and the heating within the fixing nip part N is prevented. Therefore, the recording material is never sharply heated, and a fixed image of good quality can be provided without generating a fixing tailing.
