Abstract:
PURPOSE: To apply diaphragm control optimum to various kinds of conditions by extracting the actual number of picture elements in which the image level is continuous for a prescribed object on a road surface known in advance by horizontal scan of the image and controlling diaphragm corresponding to the result of comparison with the theoretical number of picture elements.
CONSTITUTION: The prescribed object whose phase on the road subject, etc., is known in advance is extracted after an image processing part 2 performs binarization processing on the image from a camera apparatus 1 which photographs the front or rear of a vehicle. Therefore, the processing part 2 extracts the actual number of picture elements in which the image level (while level in case of white line) of the subject is continued by applying the horizontal scan. Also, the processing part 2 finds the number of picture elements of the subject in point of logic, and compares the number of picture elements in point of logic with that extracted actually, and performs opening/closing control on the diaphragm 12 corresponding to the number. Thereby, it is possible to apply the optimum diaphragm control to the subjects located at both sides of the traveling road of the white line i.e., both sides of a screen.
