To provide an image processing apparatus, an imaging apparatus, a program, and an image processing method, which are capable of obtaining a high-resolution image from a low-resolution moving image by simple processing.
The image processing apparatus includes a memory unit, an estimation computing unit, and an image output unit. Pixels are shifted in order while being superimposed, and thereby received-light values a00 through a11 of the pixels are obtained as low-resolution frame images. The memory unit stores the low-resolution frame images. The estimation computing unit estimates estimation pixel values of a pixel pitch p/2 smaller than a pixel pitch p of the low-resolution frame images. The image output unit outputs a high-resolution frame image having a higher resolution than the low-resolution frame image on the basis of the estimation pixel values. In this event, the estimation computing unit calculates a difference value a10-a00 between a received-light value a00 of a pixel at a first position and a received-light value a10 of a pixel at a second position and estimates the estimation pixel value on the basis of the difference value a10-a00.
