To provide an image processing device which performs a color correction of a display image according to a change of peripheral environment and performs a color correction in which an abrupt change in the color is suppressed and a method for processing an image.
The image processing device performs the color correction of the display image according to eye acclimation of an observer viewing the displayed image. Specifically, in order to perform the color correction in stages up to a color correction amount corresponding to the change of peripheral environment, the number of times of the correction and a divided color correction amount that is obtained by dividing the color correction amount by the number of times of the correction are determined and the color correction is performed in stages according to the number of times of the correction and the divided color correction amount that are determined.
