Abstract:
To solve the problem in which: when an image reading device reads a special document, such as a three-dimensional object and a noble metal, if the quantity of light from a light source is increased, a white streak occurs in an image; meanwhile, if the quantity of light from the light source is reduced, roughness of an image is made conspicuous to ensure a high SN ratio.SOLUTION: In an image reading device 10, when a light quantity adjustment unit 53 adjusts the quantity of light, a light quantity adjustment range changing unit 52 changes an upper limit and a lower limit of an adjustment range for adjusting the quantity of light emitted by a light irradiation unit 54, in response to the fact that switching is made by a reading mode switching unit 51 between a first reading mode and a second reading mode. Thus, the occurrence of a white streak in an image can be prevented and roughness of the image can be reduced.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
