PURPOSE: To obtain an excellent image by adjusting an image formation parameter by taking the fluctuation of an image formation condition into account.
CONSTITUTION: The luminance information on the original image outputted from a CCD 105 is converted into area sequential density information by an image processing part 108. This density information is the image data to be corrected according to the gamma characteristic of a printer at the time of an initialization. An LUT 25 converts the density characteristic of the image data inputted from the image processing part 108 so as to match the density of an original image and the density of the outputted image. The image data outputted from the LUT 25 is inputted in a PWM 26. The CPU 214 of a reader part A and the CPU 28 of a printer part B execute an image adjusting processing by coorporating with each other. At first, the gradation characteristic of the printer is adjusted, next, the color reproducing characteristic of the printer is adjusted, and the image adjusting processing is terminated.
