To reduce power consumption in an imaging apparatus.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes an imaging unit 121 having an imaging element including a plurality of pixels that can be selectively read out, for capturing an image of a subject formed on the imaging element and outputting it as image information, a display unit 125 that displays the image information output from the imaging unit 121, and a readout control unit that controls the imaging unit 121 so as not to read out pixels in the imaging element corresponding to ranges 301, 302 where image information is not displayed in the display unit 125.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
