Abstract:
To provide: covalently modified peptides and/or proteins; pharmaceutical compositions containing the same; and methods that provide improved pharmaceutical properties of peptide- and protein-based therapeutics.SOLUTION: Covalently modified peptides and/or proteins are attached to glycoside surfactants. In one aspect, the covalently modified peptides and/or proteins are attached to alkyl glycosides. In one aspect, the covalently modified peptides and/or proteins are attached to an alkyl glycoside surfactant, wherein the peptide and/or protein is attached to the glycoside in the surfactant and the glycoside is then attached to a hydrophobic and/or alkyl group. In some embodiments, there are provided reagents and intermediates for the covalent modification of peptides and/or proteins through the incorporation of surfactants such as alkyl glycosides.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11
