PURPOSE: To situate an indicator for a bicycle in a position where it is easy to see and to display an accurate speed even when a wire is elongated by a method wherein an indicator to display the speed stage of a gear shifting device for a bicycle operated by means of a shift wire for a bicycle and a speed stage display are arranged in a manner that a display part on the moving side and a display part on the fixed side are separately arranged to a display part on the moving side and a display part on the fixed side.

CONSTITUTION: A display part on 11 on the moving side is arranged in a cylindrical body 8 being a display part on the fixed side and the outer peripheral part of the display part 11 on the moving side is operated as an indicator 11a operated in coordination with a speed stage display. The inner wire 4b of a shift wire 4 is inserted in a through-hole 11b formed in the central part of the display part 11 on the moving side and coupled to the display part 11 on the moving side and integrally slid through the cylindrical body 8. Namely, the display part 11 the moving side is operated through movement of the inner wire 4b serving as a power source. A speed stage display 8a is arranged on the cylindrical body 8 and by seeing through the indicator 11a through the cylindrical body 8, the speed stage of a rear derailer is read from the indicator 11a and the speed stage display 8a.
