To provide a compact information reader to easily clean a long transparent glass provided in a direction crossing a traveling direction of a document when it becomes dirty.
The information reader includes a document feeding unit 1 where a document to be read is placed, a document storage unit 2 where the document having been read is placed, a first case body 3 to which the document feeding unit 1 and document storage unit 2 are attached, a document reader provided corresponding to a travel path for the document traveling from the document feeding unit 1 to the document storage unit 2, a second case body 6 housing the document reader, and a transparent material 7 for protection which is provided on a top surface of the second case body 6 corresponding to the document reader and has a length in a direction crossing the traveling direction of the document. The first case body 3 is fitted rotatably on a rotary shaft, provided crossing the traveling direction of the document, at one end portion side of the first case body 3.
