Abstract:

To provide an ink composition giving high-speed recording, a high image density and a high-grade image while good ejecting stability is possessed by controlling the viscosity for an elongational deformation rate (shear rate) within a specific range and to provide a method for inkjet recording.

The ink composition comprises at least a pigment, water and an aqueous resin. The ink composition has a viscosity satisfying A/B≤2.0 and C/B≤1.2 when the viscosity at 1×104 s-1 shear rate is A; the viscosity at 1×103 s-1 shear rate is B and the viscosity at 1×101 s-1 is C by measuring the elongational viscosity at 25°C using an orifice. Furthermore, the viscosity C at 1×101 s-1 and 25°C is ≥5.0 mPas.
