In the imaging apparatus for imaging on a recording medium 21 by driving an ink jet head 1 having a print head 4 arranged with nozzle arrays ejecting ink of single color or inks of a plurality of colors, respectively, and ejecting ink liquid drops from the nozzles, the ink jet head 1 is provided with a means 30 for storing ink ejection characteristics information of the print head 4 or a corresponding color conversion table. An image processing means 31 reads out the ink ejection characteristics information or the corresponding color conversion table from the storage means 30 of the ink jet head 1, and converts RGB image data into image data for print depending on the ink ejection characteristics information of the print head 4 thus generating the driving signal of the ink jet head 1.
