To provide an ink jet printer capable of clearly imaging over a long term without replacing a blade in a short period of time even when high viscosity ink is used by reducing the quantity of ink remaining at the forward end part of a blade after sliding.
The ink jet printer imaging on a recording medium by ejecting high viscosity ink comprises a recording head having ejection openings for ejecting high viscosity ink toward the recording medium and an ejection plane arranged with a plurality of ejection openings, and a means for cleaning the ejection plane. The cleaning means comprises a blade sliding on the ejection plane at the forward end part thereof while deforming resiliently, and an absorber for absorbing high viscosity ink adhering to the blade by touching the blade and sliding on the ejection plane.
