PURPOSE: To obtain an inorganic substance coated with a silane coupling agent whose color tone changes little with the lapse of time during coating or storage by incorporating a specified amount of a specified phosphate compound or a specified phenolic compound.
CONSTITUTION: 100-50000ppm, based on the silane coupling agent, at least one member selected from the group consisting of a phosphate compound (A) of formula I (wherein R1, R2 and R3 are each 1-12C alkyl or H), a phosphate compound (B) of formula II (wherein R4 is 4-24C alkyl or 6-24C aryl) and a phenolic compound (C) of a molecular weight of at least 500 is incorporated in an inorganic substance coated with a silane coupling agent. Thus, by a very simple method of incorporating a specified amount of compound A, B or C in an inorganic substance coated with a silane coupling agent, the inorganic substance whose color tone changes little with the lapse of time during coating the inorganic substance with the silane coupling agent or storage can be obtained, and therefore it is particularly desirable for use as a filter in the field of inorganic substances which need be transparent or white, such as artificial marble and wallpapers.
