Abstract:

PURPOSE: To allow intake control valves to be controlled to the target opening even in an internal combustion engine incapable of obtaining sufficient negative pressure in an intake passage.
CONSTITUTION: A negative pressure accumulating tank 18 is connected to a surge tank 8 through a check valve 24 to accumulate negative pressure. A positive pressure accumulating tank 20 is connected to the surge tank 8 through a check valve 26 to accumulate the positive pressure of pressure pulsation. The rod 11a of an actuator moves upward in this drawing to close intake control valves 9. The negative pressure chamber lid of the actuator 11 is connected to the negative pressure accumulating tank 18 through a first change-over valve 21, and the positive pressure chamber 11e of the actuator 11 is connected to the positive pressure accumulating tank 20 through a second change-over valve 22. The grades of negative and positive pressures in the negative and positive pressure chambers 11d, 11e are controlled by the duty control of the change-over valves 21, 22 to control the opening of the intake control valves 9.
